Wisdom of the Day

Something I learned today:

When trying on wedding gowns, trying on the expensive couture gown that's about twice your budget can be a bad idea. Especially when you love it, and then have to decide if you can rearrange the budget to afford it.... (This is especially true when no online retailers carry them, either.)

Current Mood: contemplative contemplative

He's cute, isn't he? And rotton as can be.... Currently chasing the cat around.

Dress is here: http://www.henryroth.com/gown_gallery/22399.php

Can't quite see the gorgeous color on it, though -- it's pale blush pink under the alencon lace.

oh my that is simply stunning. What a gorgeous wedding dress. They didn't make them like that years ago when I got married. If I ever managed to get married again (right now too soon to even contemplate that).. It would be in something really simply.

I bet that dress is amazing on tho... smiles..

and papillon's (sp?) are so stinking adorable..smile.....silly and goofy. So he's friends with the cat or is he the cat's tormentor? lol

Okay, Old Phart opinion weighing in: that's not a wedding dress, it's a nightclubbing outfit. If you want to go straight from the wedding to a club, I guess it would work pretty well; otherwise, I'd reconsider.

(And don't forget the surgical glue to hold it up! In the middle of the ceremony would be a Really Bad Time to have a wardrobe malfunction.)

I had my baby! Born August 30th at 7:30pm at St. David's Hospital in Austin,TX.
Yep! I had my baby almost three weeks early. We are fine, but I had to have an emergency c-section, and Gabriel was in the ICU for a few days just for low blood sugar, but all is well.
Now, I am in "lock down" at home breast feeding, and trying to become a mother.

Yep- I still have my wedding dress. Cost $4,000 back in 2000, but it was soooooooo worth it.

Yay for baby! Glad you're all doing well. And you'll always have the youngest kid in his class ;)

I'm really debating what I can rearrange for that dress... I've been refusing to look at the really expensive ones though. I mean, on general principal -- if the dress costs more than my reception....

However, the 1800 Henry Roth IS doable, it's just more than I'd budgeted by a lot.

guess you gotta think about it. can everyone eat chicken at the reception? lol. i find receptions a funny thing. we pay our most loved to come see us marry someone. its weird.

but then i got married at the pub, in a dress my ex boyfriend bought me (cotton and antique lace) with no shoes. to a man in purple. we ordered pizza. lol.

i think the dress is beautiful though and were it me, i would buy the dress i wanted. and if the food at the reception got alittle less fancy... then so be it.

even with my simple wedding i hardly remmber the day. cept that the band started murdering counting crows.. grrr.

I think we came up with a solution for it: we're going to have it made by one of the local designers.

It'll probably still be over 1000, but if I can save 500 bucks or so, I won't complain.

you only get married once (or so you hope anyway ) make it everything you want, even if it means overriding the budget on the dress you love! and maybe someday you'll have a daughter who can wear it (if you clean it and box it afterward....)
